Members Update - 9th September

9 Sep 2021 by Edward Reddin

Some big decisions have been made by our committee this week, so check out the latest in the members update:

Season Cancelled: Unfortunately, with no concrete end to the lockdown in sight, and the likelihood of limits on public gatherings when restrictions are eased, the committee made the difficult decision this week to cancel any remaining games in the fixture. This is obviously not the way we wanted the season to end, but we also wanted to give our members some certainty about the rest of the year, and clear space in the calendar for non-football related activities when lockdown ends.

Presentation Night: Uncertainty about restrictions on public gatherings when lockdown ends have also forced us to abandon our plan to hold Presentation Night at the Hamilton North Bowling Club. Instead, we will hold a virtual Presentation Night via Zoom on the day of the AFL Grand Final. This gives us an opportunity this year to recognise those who help support the club, and announce our award-winners, albeit in an online forum. Award winners will get to receive their physical awards at the AGM later this year. More details to be announced shortly!

Representative and Intraclub Jumpers: We are taking final orders for custom intraclub and representative jumpers for this year. They’re just $50, and you can add your own name or nickname on the back, and pick your own number, pending availability. As it has been some time since we opened this offer and to avoid orders being missed, for those that have placed orders, please re-confirm via reply to committee@huntermaf.org.au and we will make sure you’re looked after. Check out the store on Team App for available numbers, and to place your order: https://hunteraflmasters.teamapp.com/clubs/16896/store?_list=v1

RU OK Day: There’s never been a more important time to check on your mates. By starting a conversation, you could help that family member, friend or teammate open up. If they say they are not ok, you can follow simple conversation steps to show them they’re supported and help them find strategies to manage the load. It’s not always easy to keep the conversation going when someone says they’re not OK, so get the best advice and strategies on how to start and keep a conversation going here: https://www.ruok.org.au/

Good For Footy Raffle: An amazing effort from our members and supporters has seen us blast through the $500 target we set a few weeks ago in the Toyota Good for Footy raffle, with our final total being $620. It’s a great effort, and 100% of funds come back to the club. Just think of all the new footballs or snags the funds will pay for next season! Thanks again to those who contributed.

Jim’s Car Detailing Adamstown: What better time to get your car spruced up while it’s sitting in the driveway not going anywhere?Jim’s Car Detailing Adamstown were rated Australia’s top franchisee in 2020 and are still operating during the lockdown, and Shane Gallagher always has a few freebies or special deals for members. Give him a call 13 15 46 or email admin@jimscleaning.net.au or check out his website: https://www.jimscleaning.com.au/franchise/australia/nsw/adamstown-car-detailing/

While there might not be any more footy this season, we have some exciting announcements coming soon about our virtual Presentation Night, so as always, keep an eye on our Facebook and Team App pages for the latest news. Until then, here’s another joke to keep you entertained:

A man walks into a brothel and says to the madam, “Listen, I’m a bit kinky… How much for total humiliation?”
She says, "$200.”
“No worries. What do I get for it?”
“A crows jersey and a season ticket…”
