Members Update - 4th November

4 Nov 2021 by Edward Reddin

Hi again Members,

A few important reminders and nature-watching opportunities in the latest members update…

Training sessions: Nature is healing. Since lockdown ended, a flock of 40-year-old seagulls are again migrating to Lambton Park every Sunday afternoon for some exercise. This is typically followed by a brief stop at a local watering hole, before they then return to their regular abodes. If you get down there around 4pm, you can join their fun, but please note that COVID protocols must be followed:
- Rules for fully vaccinated people in NSW | NSW Government
- Rules for people who are not fully vaccinated | NSW Government

Presentation Day/AGM latest: We can confirm that the combined Presentation Day/AGM will be held on Sunday, the 5th of December at Ferodale Sporting Complex in Medowie. The AGM is scheduled for 11am, where the President’s Report and Treasurer’s Report will be presented, and nominations for the 2022 committee members will be sought. More details to be announced shortly.

Balmain Xmas Cracker Game: Balmain AFC Masters are expecting a HUGE turnout for their Xmas Cracker game on Saturday, 11 December from 8am, so anyone wanting to participate must confirm they intend to play via their event on Facebook or risk missing out: https://www.facebook.com/events/3726716310764287

Club Merch: We are very hopeful of having the new intraclub and Hornets jerseys that members ordered a short time ago available for collection at the Preso Day/AGM, so it’s another reason to come down on the day if you placed an order and can make it. For those who can’t attend, we will safely hold onto your stock until we can deliver it ASAP.

AFL 9s: Spring season of AFL 9s kicked off last week, and it was great to see so many people being able to catch up again. All three teams also had a win and enjoyed a few drinks and tunes after their game. Unfortunately, there are no playing spots remaining, but if you’re in the area and want to come down for a look and a chin-wag, it kicks off in Waratah Park from 5:30pm. Spectators and players must check-in on arrival and be double-vaxxed.

The weather is warming up and many Hunter Hornets are emerging from a deep hibernation. If you are lucky enough to spot one in a local park or licensed establishment, be sure to take a photo and share it with us, as they can be camera shy in their current post-hibernation state…

All the best,
Hunter AFL Masters committee
