Members Update - 2 December

2 Dec 2021 by Edward Reddin

Hi again Members,

Bring yourself up to date in our final members update before our big day on Sunday!

Presentation Day: Who will take home the Derek Mitchell Trophy for Player’s Player of 2022? Who will be crowned Rep Player of the Year? And who will be recognised with the Christine Bradshaw Memorial Trophy for Most Enthusiastic? These and other awards are just part of the proceedings starting from 10am on Sunday at the Ferodale clubrooms. There will also be free food, drinks for a gold coin donation, and merchandise for sale or pick-up. This is a COVID safe event, and you will be required to check-in and show proof of vaccination on entry. If you plan on attending, please RSVP via the Events page on Team App: https://hunteraflmasters.teamapp.com/clubs/16896/events/14049403?detail=v1&fbclid=IwAR1O0dAHW6_yN_4Y5mtsYMnvS-CXOTMKZxucsyvImEDbz39Wfga43wmWRA

Annual General Meeting: The 2021 AGM will take place at 11am, immediately after Presentation Day. The AGM is typically not a long affair, where the Committee Report and Annual Financial Statement are submitted, before the 2021 committee is dissolved and a new committee installed for 2022. Anyone wanting to nominate for the committee in 2022 can fill in an application form on the day, or download one from the website: https://hunteraflmasters.teamapp.com/clubs/16896/articles/6080837-2021-hunter-afl-masters-presentation-day-and-agm?detail=v1&_expiresat=1643673599

Merchandise: Custom ordered Representative and Intraclub jerseys have arrived and can be picked up this Sunday, and there will also be a selection of other merchandise available for purchase on the day. Items can also be purchased through the online store, and we have some exciting new stock on order for 2022. Keep an eye out for when the new gear arrives and look your best in club colours in the new year.

Sunday Training: No training this week (although there might be a Sherrin around the clubrooms at Ferodale), but the numbers to training over the last few weeks have been very strong. As always, it’s very relaxed and informal, with plenty of good banter, and is typically followed by a trip to the Lambton Park Hotel for those so inclined. Keep an eye on Facebook and Team App for more details, and as always, these sessions take place according to NSW Health guidelines for community sport.

Balmain Xmas Cracker: Details have come through for the Balmain Xmas Cracker game on Saturday December 11th at Mahoney Reserve, Marrickville. Men’s Masters teams will be mixed on the day and players will be allocated into a team once COVID sign-in is complete. Entry is free and players receive complimentary food and drink, but donations are welcome to help cover costs. A BBQ (with vegetarian options) will be on from 10.30am as well as a range of alcoholic and non- alcoholic drinks throughout the day. Men’s players are asked to arrive by 8.30am, with games scheduled for 9am, 9:50am, and 10:40am. A women’s game is set down for 11:45am, and finally, an all-ages game is set for 1:30pm. Massive day. Coffs Harbour NSW Carnival: It’s only a matter of weeks away! AFL Masters NSW are hosting an AFL Masters Carnival in Coffs Harbour from January 22-26 next year, with teams from Sydney and regional NSW, as well as the ACT and SE Queensland expected to enter. We’ve had a successful year on the field in 2021, but this would be next-level. Start planning your travel and accommodation…

Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday!
All the best,
Hunter AFL Masters committee
